The Common-Tater
Grab your broomstick and fly with me over our spooky pumpkin patches! And just in case you’re not a witch and don’t have a broomstick, you can always stop by the farm to grab your last minute pumpkins to add to your scary Halloween décor. If you need inspiration for carving your pumpkins you can visit “Jack-O’-Lanterns.”

It’s one week until Halloween. Do you know where your Jack O Lantern is? It’s probably here at the farm calling out your name! We have an amazing selection of our homegrown orange and white pumpkins available for sale at the farm door. We’re open all weekend to the general public. Did you know that we have two very busy stalls at the Ontario Food Terminal in Toronto? We are well stocked with bins of pumpkins available for wholesale purchase at these stalls. You can visit “The Pumpkin Patch” to see a video of John and Curtis planting pumpkins.
As the moon sets and the sun rises to start another day, we are so happy to let you know that the potato harvest was completed yesterday! All our spuds are safely moved into our storages for the winter. While you may think it’s time for us to relax and take a few days off, nothing could be further from the truth. We are moving full throttle forward preparing the combine for harvesting our soybeans and grain corn. You can visit “The Sky” to see more photos of the beautiful sky here at the farm.
Welcome to the final day of “Ontario Agriculture Week.” I hope you’ve enjoyed my series of blogs celebrating Ontario farms and the bounty of food grown in Ontario. Today we wish to thank you for all the support you give us. Whether you have our potatoes delivered to your restaurant or buy our potatoes from the grocery store, whether you stop in at our farm stand to purchase our sweet corn and pumpkins or simply support us on social media….we thank you! We wish you a very Happy Thanksgiving and hope you enjoy your time with your family and friends. And now, it’s time for me to cook a turkey and prepare for our rather large family dinner! You can visit the “Farming Equipment” category of The Common-Tater to see many videos and pictures of our equipment.
Welcome to day 6 of “Ontario Agriculture Week” where we celebrate Ontario farms and the bounty of food grown in Ontario. It’s also “National Farmers Day.” So much to celebrate! RJ, John and Curtis are the farmers who work together to grow our crops every year. Today they will be pushing hard to get as many potatoes into the storage as possible before the forecasted 3 day rain even arrives this evening. So if you happen to see them today, or any other farmer for that matter, send them a shout out “thank you!” A simple kind word will boost tired spirits and inspire them with fresh energy to keep them going during the exhausting harvest season. You can visit “National Farmers Day” to learn more about family farming.
