Every industry has its ups and downs. This year farmers in Southern Ontario were slammed with some of the most difficult growing conditions in over 20 years caused by extreme heat and drought. We were lucky to be able to water some of our crops, but irrigation has many drawbacks. Irrigation is hard work, it runs 24 hours a day for 7 days a week, it’s expensive and we cannot irrigate all of our crops.
As farmers face the daunting task of trying to salvage what managed to survive this summer, please do us a favour.
