International Women’s Day 2026

Meet Sumbo Ashabo.  Today on International Women’s Day I want to pay tribute to the woman who is responsible for showing me how to excel with my online presence.  Some blogs are meant to be long.

A chance meeting at a local BBQ in 2015 turned into a business relationship and personal friendship that has lasted 11 years.  When I first met Sumbo, our initial casual conversation led us both to quickly realize that we were who each other needed.  I was looking to develop an online presence for the farm by creating a website, and Sumbo was working on expanding her own small business developing websites.

For over 6 months we met almost every Friday night when we done our day jobs.  She would bring her little dog Dexter over to play with Murray while we worked on launching the website with pizza and beer in hand.

Sumbo showed an incredible understanding of my aspirations, patience with some of my wilder ideas and politely curbed my enthusiasm as necessary.  Her technical knowledge creating the website still leaves me amazed after all these years.  The end result of our hard work is a website that is listed first internationally on Google when anyone searches “potatoes near me.”

As an owner of a small family business I cannot express enough gratitude to Sumbo.  She taught me how to update and maintain the website, what SEO means and how to use it to our advantage, how to be prominent on Google with my Common-Tater blog and was always available whenever I sent her an emergency SOS text when I messed something up.  Sumbo no longer lives just down the road from me, but our relationship remains strong due to the vested interest we both hold in the farm’s website.

I invite you to explore my website to see the work Sumbo can do. Stay tuned as we continue our teamwork for brand new updates as our website celebrates its 10-year anniversary in April!

Sumbo is a force of nature. Her hard work is only exceeded by the pure unabashed joy she brings to those who meet her.
