Most people know that pumpkins are a very unruly vine. But did you know that we train our pumpkins vines to save labour during the pumpkin harvest? During the summer we visit the fields regularly and train every vine to grow towards a central location. Once the buds begin to emerge, we can direct the pumpkins to grow into a large pile. Our experienced pumpkin trainers have learned how to gauge the final weight of each pumpkin by simply looking at the bud. This ensures no pumpkins get squished in the pumpkin pile.
Are you questioning any of this yet?! Pumpkins are impossible to control. The vines spread where they like and the pumpkins are sprawled over many acres. Every pumpkin is inspected in the field before it is hand harvested and placed in a pile. Then they are loaded into wood crates and driven out of the field for your Thanksgiving and Halloween décor.
