The Common-Tater
I never know what will capture my interest as I travel our farm with my camera in hand. Today I present my “Close Encounters Of A Pattern Kind” picture collection. Many of these photos were gathered the hard way as I crawled under equipment, waded through thistles, got good and dirty in our fields, and froze my fingers at my chicken coop. Goes to show you that my passion for photography is only equaled by my passion for sharing everything about our farm with all of you! You can visit “Picturesque Patterns” to see some more interesting patterns that caught my eye.

We have sad news from our farm today. Our Murray has now begun his final adventure in the great beyond. We have buried him where he has a great view of his kingdom that he ruled for almost 16 years. He brought us great joy every day, and we enjoyed sharing his adventures with all of you. Rest easy #IAmMurray. You were a special dog and will always have place in our hearts. You can visit “The Conversation” to see a video of Murray laying down the rules to the swans in our irrigation pond.
While we are always #AgProud here at the farm, today is a special day. Canada’s Agriculture Day was created to recognize the work of all those who help produce the food that Canadians and people around the world eat. Every year on this day I release a new recipe to get you excited about eating locally grown food. This year I settled on potato skins filled with vegetables that you can buy from local farmers in your grocery store all winter.
Roasted vegetables including carrots, sweet potato, turnips, cremini mushrooms and frozen broccoli are tossed in a Sesame Thai dressing and piled high in crispy, seasoned potato skins. The potato flesh in turned into garlic mashed potatoes topped with diced chives. My vegetarian followers can enjoy this as a complete meal, or you can add a meat of your choice. Click on the PDF document above to print or download the recipe file. You can visit “Chili Loaded Potato Skins” for another delicious potato skin recipe. Bon Appétit! This is us! Here we are working, pausing work for a quick photo opportunity, having fun and just plain goofing around. You can visit “The Faces Of Our Farm Part V” to see some more photos of all of us in action.
